Mayor's Update: New Website, P&Z Vacancies, and City Employment Opportunities

The City of Blanco has a new website, cityofblancotx.gov! Dot Gov domains are only available to genuine U.S.-based government organizations. This domain will be more secure and will make it more difficult for scammers to co-opt our website. It also lets visitors to the site know that it is a trustworthy site and the official website for the City of Blanco. Switching to this Dot Gov domain is completely free for the City. This new website will provide residents and visitors with a greater level of information and service; there are five main sections: community, government, residents, business, and visitors. Citizens are encouraged to sign up for alerts, https://cityofblancotx.gov/subscribe; you will have an option of receiving the alerts via email or text, or both. The old website is still active currently, but we are in the process of moving fully to the new website. Please begin using the new one, cityofblancotx.gov. 

 

P&Z Vacancies 

The Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission has two vacant seats. P&Z has “the powers and duties of a Planning and Zoning Commission in accordance with Texas Local Government Code Section 211.007 and Section 371.042, provided, however, that it serves only in an advisory capacity to the City Council. The Planning and Zoning Commission's authority extends to and includes review and recommendation of the following:

Unified Development Code Text Amendment

Zoning Map Amendment

Historic District Designation 

Special Use Permit

Concept Plan

Preliminary Plat

Final Plat

Development Agreement

Dedication of land and community facilities,” according to the City of Blanco Unified Development Code. P&Z meets on the first Monday of the month of each month at 6:30 p.m. and consists of seven members who serve a two-year term. Employment Opportunities 

The City of Blanco has several employment opportunities at this time. Our current interim city administrator, Kelly Kuenstler, will be stepping down from the position in Jan. 2022 therefore the City is currently looking for a full-time city administrator. The City Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city government and is under the general supervision of the City Council and serves at the will and pleasure of the City Council. The work requires frequent contact with the City Council, Boards or Commissions, the general public, all department heads, and employees. Qualified individuals should send resumes (e-mail preferred), salary history information for the past five years, and five business-related references no later than November 19, 2021, directed to Ms. Kuenstler, cityadmin@cityofblanco.com, or to the City of Blanco, P. O. Box 750, Blanco, Texas 78606, or hand-delivered to 300 Pecan Street, Blanco, Texas. The City is requesting qualifications from experienced Professional Legal Firms or Individual Attorneys for the purpose of providing legal services to the City of Blanco on a contract basis. The proposals are due on November 15, 2021, by 3:00 p.m. to Ms. Kuenstler. The City is also soliciting quotations for IT Services and interested companies are required to demonstrate a solid background in providing IT services to similar organizations. Bids are due on November 19, 2021, by 4:00 p.m. and a committee will evaluate the responses and recommend finalists to be interviewed by the Mayor and City Council. The City is also looking for qualified contractors to submit proposals describing their technical and financial qualifications to provide full-service operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater lift stations, water pumps stations & tanks, and wastewater collection and water distribution systems. Proposals must be received by the City of Blanco by 2:00 p.m. on November 23, 2021. The City of Blanco is requesting qualifications, pricing information,

and availability of a consultant to author development regulations and design standards for the HWY 281 corridor. Planners, architects, engineers, and other related professionals are requested to submit a proposal to the City of Blanco no later than 10:00 a.m. on November 15, 2021.
